The Hercules Art|Studio Program was co-founded by Claire Weisz and Andrea Woodner to encourage and enable talented emerging artists to pursue their careers in New York. It provides seven subsidized private work studios, shared exhibition and meeting spaces, and full amenities to selected artists on a two year basis.

In addition to pursuing their own studio work, the artists are responsible for organizing exhibitions and convening engaged dialogues, critiques and reviews as part of their tenancy.

Hercules Artists are selected biennially by jury from the graduating classes of MFA programs in and around New York. The next group of artists will be notified of their nomination in 2025.

While we were truly saddened that we were not able to welcome a new group of artists to Hercules in 2020 due to the public health crisis, we were glad that our 2018 Artists were, for the most part, able to continue to make use of their studios until we resumed and completed the selection process and welcomed in our next cohort of recent MFA graduates. In Spring 2021, we solicited on-line submissions to NYC MFA graduate programs for studio availability in late summer. Those recent graduates already identified as semi-finalists in 2019 retained their status for final review. In September, the 2021 Hercules Artists moved in!
